I help service businesses define useful events, connect campaign and website signals, improve lead handover and build reporting that separates traffic, enquiries, qualified opportunities and business outcomes.
Events and parameters capture the actions that matter without treating every click as a lead.
UTMs, forms, CRM or follow-up records connect the source to what happened after enquiry.
A recurring report identifies confidence, constraints, tests and budget choices.
The problem I am usually solving
Marketing platforms can each claim credit while the business still cannot answer a simple question: which activity created a useful opportunity? The gap usually sits between the ad click, the website event, the submitted lead and the follow-up record.
I define the measurement chain before adding more dashboards. That means deciding which actions are signals, which are conversions and which require validation outside the website.
The working framework
- Name the business questions
Start with the decisions the owner, marketer and sales team need to make each month.
- Define the event hierarchy
Separate page views and CTA clicks from form starts, submitted enquiries and validated outcomes.
- Preserve source context
Use consistent UTMs and useful lead fields so origin and intent can travel into follow-up.
- Check the handover
Verify delivery, ownership, response time, status and reasons a lead did or did not progress.
- Automate the repeatable parts
Move notifications, routing and reporting preparation where automation reduces delay without hiding judgement.
What I review and deliver
- Measurement plans for page views, CTA engagement, form stages and successful enquiries.
- GA4, platform-pixel and consent reviews, with duplicate-event checks.
- UTM naming and source/medium/campaign discipline.
- Lead fields, routing, ownership and follow-up-status requirements.
- Monthly report structure across demand, acquisition, journey, quality and outcome.
- Automation roadmap for practical notifications, handovers and reporting workflows.
What a useful report contains
| Layer | Question | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Demand | Who saw or searched for us? | Where should we build visibility? |
| Acquisition | What produced visits and enquiries? | What should we protect, test or stop? |
| Journey | Where did intent weaken? | Which message, page or form needs work? |
| Quality | Which enquiries were contactable and suitable? | What qualification or targeting should change? |
| Outcome | What progressed to an appointment, proposal or sale? | Where should time and budget move next? |
The role of automation
Automation should remove delay and repetition, not create a complicated system that nobody trusts. I prioritise immediate lead delivery, clear ownership, status capture and repeatable report inputs before adding advanced flows.
Questions people usually ask
Do I need a CRM before improving measurement?
Not always. A disciplined shared process can begin with forms, lead fields and status tracking. A CRM becomes valuable when volume, ownership or reporting complexity makes that process difficult to maintain.
Should every CTA be counted as a lead?
No. A click shows intent, while a successfully submitted and delivered enquiry is a lead event. Keeping those stages separate prevents inflated reporting.
Can all platform reports match exactly?
No. Attribution windows, identity, consent and modelling differ. The goal is not artificial numerical agreement; it is a documented source of truth and enough confidence to make decisions.
Scope and recommendations depend on the business, market, available evidence and delivery capacity. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
